My Personal Observations on a Guild Ghost Hunt

by Chuck Colson

This is the companion piece to Doug Colson’s report, also found in this section of the website.
-- Don Love

On March 28th [2009], Don and Debbie Love were kind enough to invite me to the investigation of paranormal activity at the Theatre Guild of Webster Groves.

We were to meet members of the Missouri Paranormal Society. I asked [for] and was granted the right to bring my brother, Doug, along.

Having been a recipient of activity at the theater before, I was excited to have a chance to investigate. Doug and I met Don and Debbie about an hour before the society was to get there. A tour and history of the Guild was given by Don and Debbie.

I expressed to Don and Debbie that I had always had a strange feeling about the basement area, but was told that a psychic mentioned to them nothing was down there. It was at this time Doug heard what was believed to be walking up the stairs leading to the seating area of the theater. We were alone in the theater and all were in the sitting room. Doug asked and was allowed to place a MP3 recorder at the top of the stairs.

Soon after the paranormal team showed up. History of occurrences was given to some, not all of the team members. The team set up equipment and started the investigation. With permission we were granted the right to assist.

With lights out some of us stationed ourselves in the sitting room. Temperature fluctuations were felt and then verified by infared thermometors.

Doug and I then decided to walk through different areas to see if we could capture or experience any other happenings.

Upstairs in the stage area of the Guild I thought I saw figures at various intervals. But when I would turn to look nothing was there.

Doug and I then decided to go downstairs to the dressing areas. The first we went to was the ladies dressing room. We sat trying to make contact with anything in the room. Nothing happened. We then entered into the mens dressing room where Doug noticed a smell of perfume. We sat and tried to make contact. As we were doing this the distinct sound of someone sitting in the metal chair across from us was noticed by both of us.

Doug and I went back into the sitting room where we took station at the monitor. I went into the kitchen area when Doug called to me to ask if I looked around the corner at him. The position I was at made this impossible.

It was at this time when the paranormal society came up from the basement with the tale of seeing a head. They also stated that the basement door had closed on them.

We all gathered together and ventured forth once again to the basement. Some went into the back storage room and others stationed ourselves just on the other side. We went lights out. Almost immediately I heard someone whisper real close to my left ear. It startled me so that I turned the flaslight on and asked if anyone did so. No one was near.

I turned off the flashlight again and waited. Not long after I saw what looked to be head-shaped but brightly lit start in the corner and move all down the wall towards the door.

I seemed to enter the room where the others were stationed. There were other sightings and what is known as K2 meter activity happening.

The following day Doug and I listened to the MP3 player. We were both very startled to capture what appeared to be a loud moan in the theater area twice. The first time was when there were four of us in the theater and no one upstairs. Other noises were captured. The recordings will be turned over to Don Love.

Sincerely,
Chuck Colson.
